Earlier I posted about how we decided to swap the furniture in the living room and dining room. Well the switch is almost complete. We still need to hire an electrician to put a light socket in the new dining room and move the chandelier over. We also need to find an overhead light for the new "parlor." Another minor task we want to do is switch a clock and a plate rack. We have some other changes in mind, but they had nothing to do with the swap.

We just love the change. Space-wise it just make so much more sense. It looks better and we already use both rooms more often. I am very excited that during holiday meals with extended family people won't feel like they are in a can of sardines in our dining room.

Isn't it amazing how the most minor changes can really change your outlook? (Though I'm sure you don't consider moving furniture around "minor!!") So glad to hear your new rooms will allow for better flow of your family and guests!

Hi, Kristi, that's a great idea! I've heard of a lot of people doing this the last few years & it's wonderful to take advantage of what works for your family. Looks like it's a perfect solution to getting a bigger DR. Changing the light fixture shouldn't be too big a deal. You may even want to keep a small chandy in the parlor too to keep that cozy feel in there.
Your plaid sofa is really pretty & I can see why you like it. Thank you for all the compliments. Just keep working on your home. You have little ones right now & I know it takes awhile to get things the way we want them. I've been working on my home for about 20 years now to get it where it is! So, hang in there. And, what a talented seamstress you are! I can't do anything like that. I have to rely on my mom to sew for me, so you are so fortunate to be able to sew things & sell them. You do beautiful work!

Oh, another thing you asked me about. Moldings & all in Southern homes. Yes, I think that must be much more of the thing down in the South, from what I've heard. Most of the houses down here have that look, and most have painted trim instead of stained. A lot of my friends have much more elaborate homes, as well as trimwork than we do, but I'm really happy with this house & all the crown molding & trim that it does have. It's plenty big for us. I can't complain!
