Transformation

We painted our family room on Friday from the recommendation of the color specialist whose choice was close to my first try but with less gray and more gold. In the before picture we are in prep mode and Jason is actually doing the ceiling. The original color was a light peach. There are a couple of splotches on the walls of the color I originally picked out, the final color is that dark, but a slightly different shade.

We LOVE it! I makes such a huge difference. Sometimes we just sit in there for 15-30 minutes at a time.

We used Benjamin Moore, which I highly recommend. We usually use Behr and I am sure that would have required two gallons. We only needed ONE gallon for the entire room. The color is Twilight Gold (1069) in a Matte and the grade of paint is "Regal". I believe there are 3 grades. The highest is Aura, not sure the name of the lowest. We will use Aura for the darker colors because they do not require a tinted primer and there is a two coat coverage guarantee. The coverage with the Regal grade was great and took two coats. Apparently darker colors don't cover as well and a friend of mine who used a red said she needed many coats to get complete coverage. We are doing a reddish color in our dining room, so I definitely want to get the Aura grade for that project. You have to go to an independent paint store for Aura, Ace doesn't carry that grade.

Sometimes it's the small changes that make the biggest difference! So glad you like it.

Hope you're surviving the first bit of your week apart from Jason. I'm sure there are mommy challenges and exhaustion, but I'll bet you do a brilliant job!

That looks fantastic! I love what a fresh coat of paint does to a room and then, how you feel in that room.

Will you email me privately? I've got a little something for you to say thanks for the plug for Li Tian Designs. My email address is LiTianDesigns(at)sbcglobal(dot)net.

That looks great--really warms the room up. We have a similar color in our living room. And our kitchen is a rust red and it did take about 3 coats over primer to get a good finish. But it was worth it. Amazing how paint can make a room feel new.

Kristi, it looks very nice! Amazing what paint will do. That's one of the best ways to get a new look without spending a lot. Those golds really warm up a room too.

Love the new color. It looks like it brightens the room up so much. I love how a new shade of color transforms a room and makes it all so fresh and new. I've just done our master bedroom and love the new look. Good job!
