Hurting for another

I'm having a very sad day.  A friend called this morning with some very unfortunate news.  It has been a long time coming and I'm sorry it has come to this, but she has to do what she has to do.  And today is a big day which will change everything.  She is so scared and does this with a heavy heart.  I am so sad and upset for her and for everyone involved.  I don't think things are going to be any easier.  Not for a long time.  I will go to see her (she's out of state) if she needs me and I just wish I could reach my hand across the miles and the time zones to hold hers today.
