Offer and Stitches

I had a rough morning yesterday. With the whole job thing, I was starting to lose hope and get worried. I also felt really alone. I had talked to Jason and talked to my mom and didn't know who else to call. I really feel like my friends with kids are so busy and I don't want to bother them. It was just a time, I needed to know other people cared. I must insert hear that my friend Nilsa has been so kind to read my emails of drama and I hardly know her other than through blogging. She is the fiance of a childhood friend of my husband and I just discovered she blogs early this year. Not to mention she is smack dab in the middle of closing on a condo and planning a wedding! I just have to say what a sweet person she's been to this person she barely knows. Plus she is giving me business by asking me to make some gifts and such which makes me happy and keeps me busy doing what I love. It is nice to feel admired and believed in.

So back to my pitiful lonely self yesterday. Out of the blue I get a call from my friend Gail who is childless for a few days (her inlaws have her son and will meet she and her hubby in Colorado for vacation tomorrow). She was concerned and there she was, the perfect person from my life to talk to. She was just what I needed when I felt like I needed someone to talk to. But that's not all. Next my friend Julie called who also happens to head up our food coop to let me know she had just told Gail (who was out at the time) that the food was in and that Gail was picking mine up. Well, while on the phone with Julie (who also was a great ear and a sweet soul to talk to) the call waiting went off. Mind you, at this point Jason had gone for a run. I ignored it and didn't even look to see who it was. I figured it was the annoying cable people again asking what in the world was wrong with us for not wanting any of their services. (Next time they call I think I'm going to tell them we don't own a TV!) So I get off the phone with Julie and a few minutes later Jason comes running into the room and I'm thinking "Why is he back so soon?" In disbelief he says "OF ALL THE TIMES I CALL, WHY DIDN'T YOU PICK UP NOW?" As he was running and listening loudly to his headphones the phone rang. And it was from the hiring manager of a job he has been pursuing. And he was calling to say he wanted to make an offer. So yeah, Jason has an offer for a job in this general area. It looks pretty good though he will negotiate a few points. So there is a deep sigh of collective relief going on around here and an almost disbelief that this experience is over. I also got a sweet email from my good friend Lisa in Dallas, she was the maid of honor at our wedding. It was SOOOO good to hear from her too.

Today I really wanted to work on the yard with Jason, but he did have a number of things to take care of regarding the offer and such. So I went around doing little things. Trimming the dead branches off the rose bushes, weeding, picking up sticks out of the yard. Then after a bit of hesitation, I made the unfortunate decision to trim some bushes using the electric hedge trimmer. Things were going well. Edges were nice and neat but there was a lot to do on top to even the whole thing out. Then as I concentrated on a certain area and lost all sense of safety, it happened. I slipped my hand a little further down the handle and the next thing you know I feel a little twinge of pain. I look down. There is a lot of blood, spurting. I run in the house and call for Jason. He rounded every one up to take me to acute care. The result is... 4 stitches in my finger and a huge bandage. I think the whole family watched the whole procedure. Which means I think my kids could be doctors some day. ;-) Or at least they aren't too squeamish. I was hesitant to let them watch, but they seemed fine. Additionally, I think I cried more at how touched I was by Ella than I did at the pain. She was at my side with her hand on my shoulder taking such good care of me and saying such sweet things. What a little sweetie we have!

I am not sure how I managed to type this, but I've hit the delete button several times!!

Oh friend! I feel so bad for not e-mailing you yesterday! I even had one all typed and ready to go but then I deleted it because I felt like it was too dorky. I hope you'll forgive me.

I am so sorry you had such a rough day yesterday morning but I rejoice in the fact that Jason got a job offer! What a hugh sigh of relief! I hope the negotiations go well and I'll be sure and lift those up!

I'll also pray that your finger heals quickly. I'm glad you have your sweet babies and hubby there to take care of you!!

Next time I'll be a better friend and hit send instead of worrying about whether or not I'll be looking a goob or not.
